Know Your Mobile Screen Resolutions - Currently, many mobile phone vendors are using screen resolutions as' selling materials'. But what is the resolution of the screen on your phone? And what impact on the display?

Indeed, many users who have understood the meaning of the resolution of the screen with its types. Even so, not a few users who only know his name, without his meaning.

Here is the type of screen resolution commonly used in many smartphones today.
  • QVGA ( 320x240 )
  • HVGA ( 480x320 )
  • WVGA ( 800x480 )
  • FWVGA ( 854x480 )
  • DVGA ( 960x640 )
  • WSVGA (1024x600)
  • XGA (1024x768)
  • WXGA (1366x768 / 1360x768 / 1280x800)
  • QXGA (2048x1536)
  • QHD ( 960x540 )
  • HD (1280x720)
  • FHD (1920x1080)
  • QHD (2560x1440)
So what does it mean? You see, the greater the resolution, the more severe the graphics performance and also increasingly wasteful battery consumption.

The greater the resolution does not mean that the picture is getting smoother. Subtle or not depends also on the display screen size (in inches ).

Comparison of screen size and screen resolution will determine the screen density expressed in units of ppi ( pixels per inch ), the higher the value the more dense ppi and more refined.

Example: a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels with a 5-inch screen size will result in density of 441 ppi, a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels with 15 -inch screen size will produce a density of 146 ppi.

From the above example we can see the same resolution but with different screen sizes then produce different densities.

The smaller ppi then each pixel can become increasingly apparent. The human eye itself is not able to see clearly per pixel if the density of the screen is above 300 ppi.

Hopefully knowledge regarding screen resolution can be used as consideration for the purchase of your dream smartphone.
